Lucy Claxon

Got an email from Roger, who writes:

"My family has a Claxon in it. My g-g-grandmother was Lucy Claxon and was married to A.W. Giles. I was wondering if you could give me any information about that lineage."

My answer:
First it would help if you had her middle initial, since I know of at least two Lucy Claxons. There is some at http://www.familysearch.org, the LDS Family History Site. Do a search on Ancestors. Also, is this a Kentucky or Virginia Claxon, because that is the bulk of what I have information on.

Lucy B. Claxon was the Daughter of William G. Claxon and Anna Q. Baker.

A Lucy Jane married William Claxon and her marker is in Carter Cemetery in Owen County. The link is here.

There was Lucy Clarke Giles who married Spencer Claxon. Her Ancestral File
number is: AFN: SNM5-26. I guess the question on this one is if she married a Giles as well as a Claxon, in what order did the marriages occur? The Ancestral File makes it look as if her maiden name was Giles. Could she have been a widow?

In ANY of these cases, all three of these are related to my family tree. I can provide more (including links) if you can tell me which of these Lucy's it is that is in your family tree!

Also try posting your question on the Claxton Genforum as someone there might be more familiar with your Lucy.

If anyone out there can help Roger, please post a comment here or email me and I will provide his email address!
